cupholders: the future of the world!

***this was one of my blogs on myspace...to formalize my switch to blogspot, i figured i would re-post my raptor's experience here, especially because i know there are at least two readers who will take interest...***

i went to my first (nba) basketball game last night! our seats were okay, but it looked like the people in the sprite zone were having a better time than everyone else - they got the blow-up stick thingies that you beat together when you are sitting behind the basket to distract the free-thrower...even though they weren't sitting behind the basket! thus they would have no way to distract the free-thrower! is that even allowed?! they also got t-shirts. clearly we didn't have the right seats.

the "yay, basketball games are fun" moments:
>the beer cups have lids on them so as to avoid spillage. these lids form a spout to drink out of. it's like a sippy cup, but for adults! it almost made canadian taste good. almost.
>we took the go train which was a fun experience that brought back memories of when i didn't have a car.
>free mo pete figurine that i can give to one of my brothers who would it enjoy it more than me.
>i almost got my picture taken with jerome williams. then i remembered that i don't even like basketball or JYD. still, the fact that i could have makes me a little excited.
>i have to admit, basketball is way more exciting to watch live than on tv. and i don't have to hear chuck swirsky, although i was tempted to try to throw things at his shiny head. i didn't.
>raptors won!

the "meh, is it over yet?" moments:
>no cup holders for said beer sippy cup. i guess that's part of the reason why they created them, since there is no holder. i think i've been spoiled by movie theatres and my car and those couches that you can buy that have cup holders in them. i think the bathtubs of the future will include cup holders. pants too.
>there was a fat guy sitting behind us that smelled like a melange of unwashed skin, cigarette smoke and a submarine (you know, the sandwich kind).
>the fat guy who smelled like a melange of unwashed skin, smoke and a submarine (you know, the sandwich kind) dropped a mayonnaise-covered piece of chicken in my hair. from his sub. good thing today was my turn to shower!
>while trying to assemble his mo pete figurine, kris broke off the hand that was holding the basketball. i shall tell the brother that is lucky enough to receive my figurine to handle with care.

as much as i didn't enjoy being showered with sandwich toppings, it was very fun! i may even go again one day if i am presented with free tickets again. hint hint.

Just noticed this post and had to comment tout de suite. I found it quite ironic that on the night MoPete figurines were distributed, he was injured and didn't play for the first time in 371 games.

I'm sorry you missed hearing The Swirsk's victorious, "Get out the salami and cheese!"
