birthday miko

as usual, my birthday turned into a weekend-long event. we went for dinner and drinks on a patio on friday night. we decided to do this earlier in june when the weather was summery and hot. on friday, it was not summery and hot, but we shivered on the patio anyway. i have some great pictures from the night, some of which can later be used for blackmail purposes, i'm sure. the owner of the bar gave us all two rounds of shots which was nice. the waitress said it's probably because our bill was so high.

on saturday, we went to a friend's house for dinner, then to the oakville waterfront festival. here, we enjoyed an amazing fireworks show in the VIP section (we had connections) where we sipped champagne and ate strawberries (yay, connections!). we went to another friend's house afterwards for, you guessed it, more drinks.

today, my mom and dad came to visit. kris' mom joined us all for dinner, all the way in oakville at a sushi place. now we're enjoying the cake that vanessa made. YUMMY! it's a raspberry flan-y thingie that rivals the products from a pastry place close to our former apartment. vanessa is my queen of tarts.

it has been a gift card birthday. i have received gift cards from club monaco, lululemon, sephora, starbucks (two) and mac cosmetics (two). my thoughtful friends and family know me so well! or maybe i'm just really transparent. or both. yes. let's go with that.

also, kris bought me two shirts. funny, i tried on a shirt last week that i really liked and was ready to buy, but i didn't because i wanted to shop around and then i ran out of time. when i told kris about the nice shirt i found at club monaco, he casually asked what colours it came in, so i told him orange, black, white and beige but that i really liked the orange one. it turns out he bought the very same shirt in orange for me a week earlier. this is big news for those who think i need more colour in my wardrobe.

overall, a fantastic birthday...it may have even been the best yet. thanks to those that made it special!
