no longer a cuba widow!

kris left for cuba exactly one week ago, as a chaperone for a high school trip with our dear friend brian. at first i was a little jealous of kris - then i remembered that his job is to make sure 51 high school students stay out of "trouble" (read: alcohol) while in cuba, where there is no drinking age and rum is the national beverage. then i didn't feel so envious! on a completely unrelated note, one of the mothers at the airport made sure to tell me that she and her friends thought kris was cute. awww.

with no communication except for a quick phone call today that abruptly ended because the phone card ran out, i've had no contact with kris. this is the longest we haven't spoken since we met each other 8 years ago.

while i've been lonely, i've also been very busy. i had to accompany a student and was downtown at 9am last wednesday and then taught until 9pm in oakville. otherwise i've been visiting with friends a bit, doing sophisticated things like having brunch and attending buck and does - actually just one.

but now i'm in the home stretch, with kris' flight expected to return at 2am. while my week wasn't so bad, i definitely prefer having him around. which is a good thing, considering i'm married to him.
