coyote miko

i played in a wedding out of town this past weekend. i had to attend the rehearsal on friday night, so we booked a hotel for the weekend.

i lost the little card that the thoughtful bride sent with the invitation, listing hotels in the area, so i turned to my friend, google maps. i typed in the address of the reception venue, and searched for nearby hotels. i found a few, called some that looked like the best combination of quality and value. and voila, we were booked at the travelodge.

the travelodge was disappointing and smelled like a combination of cigarette smoke and stale urine. someone should bottle that smell and call it "eau de toilette"...haha, why am i so funny! there was an old sock in the corner of the room that could have been there for years. i could go on about the room, but i won't, i'll just tell you that the mattress was old and not very comfortable, so my sleep on friday night was not the most restful. this leads to my story.

on friday night, i had several strange/weird/bad dreams. in one of them, i dreamed that i was back at the farm and sleeping in my old pink bedroom. i woke up to see someone coming in my room looking all ominous and scary. i tried to call for help, but in those types of dreams, i never can - i open my mouth and try to scream, but nothing comes out. i'm sure you've experienced this in a dream too. well, this night, i successfully called out for help. it wasn't quite the "EEEEK, HELP ME, SOMEONE'S IN MY ROOM" kind of yell that i was going for; i woke up to kris poking me and asking me if i realized i was howling. yes. like a coyote. i have done embarassing things in my sleep before but i think this one takes the cake. it was hard to go back to sleep after that because one of us would burst into giggles thinking about my wolf-like serenade.

and the person in my room in my dream? it was my dad and he was far from ominous and scary. it was like on tv when something is supposed to be threatening but in the end it isn't? another sign that perhaps i watch too much television...

arrrooooo....
