i remember when i was younger, my parents used to tell me that i could scare away thunderstorms by playing the piano. it consistently worked, the thunderstorms would always go away. i see now that it was just a ploy to make me practice more and i think of this everytime it thunders.
scout, on the other hand, hides behind the toaster oven. i guess we all cope in different ways...
