in search of the magical cure...and the magical elixir...

thank you, family and friends, for your donations for relay for life. our team ended up raising over $1000 (and still going since online pledging is still going on) and we were pretty diligent about making sure someone was walking at all times. there were some teams that were pretty lax about it, i must say.


this is a picture of a luminary that you can buy in honour/memory for those who have or had cancer. we bought one for kris' mom and one for vanessa's dad. we got them online, but for some reason, didn't have the pretty pattern that this one did, so i chose to post this one instead...the luminaries lit up the track once it got dark which was a beautiful effect.

next year we will be better prepared - read: bring warmer clothing for nighttime - and perhaps better organization (matching t-shirts? a team sign? a bake sale to keep us occupied throughout the night?) i did get new shoes for the occasion, which worked very well for my over-pronation (flat feet).

we kept seeing people walk past with tim horton's coffees and baked goods, drawing us to the conclusion that there was one close-by. everytime we turned around, someone was walking past with an armful of coffees! so after i dropped vanessa off, who joined us for the first half of the night, i went in search for the tim horton's. i could have gone to the one close to vanessa's house, but i wanted the coffees to be as hot as possible when i brought them back. and i reasoned that there would be one close-by since we kept seeing so many people with tim's. so i drove around the vicinity of the park, and nothing. i returned with the rest of my team eagerly awaiting my arrival (something tells me they were waiting for the coffee and not just my lovely presence) and i was empty-handed. kris then said that the GPS system in his car would locate the closest tim horton's (we had to take both cars because i had to come a little later), so we took his car out, again in search for timmy's. there was NOTHING in the vincinity, the closest one was actually in mississauga and we were in etobicoke. so where were all the people getting their coffee from? i guess we will never know, because vanessa was too scared to ask. hahahah!
