i accompanied two RCM exams today. i walked in the door, and the woman at the desk said to me cheerfully, "are you here for your piano exam, young lady?" i told her that i was accompanying two violin exams, and she kind of looked embarassed and told me where my first student was warming up.
later on, after the first girl had finished, i had switched chairs to sit beside the mother of the second girl i was accompanying. the same woman saw me and asked if i had signed in yet. again, i told her i was the accompanist and not here for an exam.
i remember one time about a year ago, i was at the LCBO. as i'm walking around, i notice an employee following me. i thought it was a little strange but shrugged it off. as i stepped into the line to pay, she ran to her cash and eagerly offered to serve me. at this point, i figured she was either hitting on me or wanting to check my ID. it was the latter.
i guess this comes with the territory of being asian...since most asians age slowly it's really just a crap shoot to figure out how old we are. sort of like the bearded lady at circuses, we are freaks of nature.
and mind you, i would rather be called "young lady" than "ma'am"! so i'll stop complaining. if only that dreamy guy from starbucks would call me "young lady"...sigh...

maybe she was hitting on you and she just wanted to see your id so she could take note of your name and address ... and because i'm too lazy to make a second comment on the previous post ... i think you should perhaps consider a series called "seriously ..." come on, you know you want to do it.
