cataracts and cadillacs...

i had this white spot on the inside of my lower eyelid that my optometrist wanted me to get checked out. she figured it was probably just a clogged sweat gland, but she wanted to make sure. her office booked an appointment with an opthamologist at mount sinai hospital, which happened to be this morning.

i just made it to the opthamologist's office in time for 9:45am and i sat down to wait. the only other people that were in the waiting room were really elderly people who like to complain. i quickly found out that the 9am appointment still hadn't been seen. this didn't bode well. i entertained myself by eavesdropping on their conversations where they reminisced about the war and how easy condo living is compared to owning a house. one couple joined this old-person club where you pay $8000 to join and $3000 every year after that. i didn't catch what the the perks were to this elusive club, so i guess i'll never know. one lady kept updating everyone about how her eyesight was deteriorating even more because she's been waiting so long. and i played brick breaker on my cell phone. it took an hour and 15 minutes for the opthamologist to see me. he looked at my eye and within seconds, told me what it was: a clogged sweat gland.

while i'm glad it's nothing serious, i was a little peeved that i spent that much time waiting for a two-second diagnosis. i think some of that old-person-negativity is rubbing off on me.
