this was chock-full of great moments and speeches!
derek talking fast and staring the serial killer in the eye. alex blowing up at arizona. then arizona calmly retaliating with the reality of being a pediatrician at a hospital. bailey yelling at sadie (can someone explain to me why though? or was bailey just really upset about the whole situation and taking it out on sadie?).
before i forget, alex is the cutest thing ever, with his suggestion to go look at corn. it looks like arizona got through to him.
the alarmingly high ponytail was hilarious, the pink hair elastic just TIED it all together. hyuk. i never noticed, but meredith doesn't really smile with her teeth unless she's laughing. this is what happens when izzie is in charge, we get bubblegum hairdos and vampire smiles. it makes sense since izzie does have vampire teeth. coincidence?! maybe she's slowly turning everyone on the show into vampires.
of course derek's mother is a strong but kind, opinionated but rational, woman who can read you like a book. they kind of have the same hair. it definitely looks better on derek. i always pictured derek's mother to have more fashion sense than to put on a velour jumpsuit, though. i guess that is supposed to add to her "real-ness". i'll forgive her this one time.
i LOVE lexie's bumbling when mrs. shepherd asked her how many partners she's had. so cute. and how sweet was it that mrs. shepherd just wanted to make sure lexie was a good person, for mark. i wanted her to ask lexie if she flossed regularly. that kind of question always comes up when your character is under scrutiny. which is why i floss religiously. that, and my teeth are squished together so food always gets stuck in between. but i digress...
another thing i felt i missed - when did lexie move into meredith's attic?? i figured after the whole intern illegal surgery thing, but i think the actual part where lexie moved in was glossed over a bit. that scene is probably on the cutting room floor, unless i missed it?
cristina and owen's date. he was so cute with his little outfit and the flowers, but the drunkness overshadowed all that. how he actually showered with his suit on. and how much his time in iraq is affecting him (gulf war syndrome?). they will be good for each other.
the best part is, when meredith finally revealed her true self to mrs. shepherd, we all knew derek's mom would love her - she has to - and i LOVE that the reason why is because derek is black and white, while meredith? she's shades of GREY. GET IT?? i was waiting for her to say that but i guess the writers have something against puns on national tv. puns are definitely underrated around here.
one last thing: the scene at the end? so very disturbing! and graphic! i actually couldn't watch. *shudder* you can tell sweeps month is coming...

yes, yes, yes , yes and yes. to all of that.
alex is the cutest. ever. um... i like how denny thinks he's gonna talk to him about the situation. yyyyyyeah. good luck with that, dead boy.
i was so confused by the attic dwelling too. is that STILL from when derek "brought home the stray"? definitely glossed over. because otherwise, lexi has a lot of nerve taking her half-sister's boyrfriend's best friend upstairs to randomly do it in her half-sister's house.
i really like arizona for some reason. and i think bailey is being WEIRD. maybe she just isn't used to being questioned like that, but she's being all drama. and i'm wondering if the sadie-hate goes back to the intern-api-mischief? she did say she didn't trust her because she's "squirrely". ha!
the open-skull-banging made ME squirrely. *shudder*.
ok - thanks to melissa, i have an explanation for lexie:
yes, she's still there from when derek brought home the stray. she couldn't handle the unrequited love so decided to stay with meredith instead. also, t.r. knight has apparently asked to be written off the show, so her no longer living with him nicely phases him out. i read in the episode recap from two weeks ago that george asked lexie what was going on, and she told him to rent her room. i don't remember that happening, but maybe i just missed it. otherwise that's just cruel to put pretend events in the episode recap. it makes me question my sanity.
and of COURSE that's why bailey doesn't like sadie, because of the illegal surgeries. i forgot. i agree she's being weird...perhaps she feels threatened by arizona and her heelys? for the record, i like arizona too - and i can't place my finger on it either...maybe because she's smart, articulate, good at her job and beautiful? nah, that can't be it. :)
by the way, my favourite line from the writer's blog re: cristina and hunt: "Boy meets Girl, Boy kisses Girl, Boy goes off to War and comes back all effed up, Forgets who Girl is, Remembers Girl, Asks Girl on Date then shows up Wasted." love it!
i think bailey's in a state of turmoil and confused right now - which is leading her to be touchy.
1. her husband has disappeared and become an assassin. personal life in shambles - her relationship with her son is unknown.
2. she's made a personal connect with this ped's case - she can't stand to lose this kid and maybe her own kid as well (they haven't talked about him for a while)
3. she believed in the stability of the old and the steady hand experience and responsibility brought. then she found out that the old ped's doctor was too stuck in his old ways and when she turned to the chief for comfort, he didn't give her that again. he just re-highlighted the fact that the hospital is in shambles.
4. she's currently torn on what she wants to do - should she stay with the old trusted methods - ones that she's getting bored with or should she explore something with more excitement but with less stability? (difficult for a no-nonsense girl like herself) - i think this ties into her dislike for sadie - she hates sadie for her head-strong precociousness, but is also jealous of her spontaneity.
p.s. why won't meredith apologize already?!? how can she ever form a good bond if she shuts ppl out at the first sign of disagreement?
speaking of apologies... i love that cristina finally saying that ponytail looked ridiculous is actually her way of apologizing/reaching out to meredith. that's what they are to each other... the voice of loving truth. it was a HUGE step!
